33 Miners Rescued and Reunited with their Families in Chile

Positive Attitude Safety System Inc. (PASS) is proud to have played a small but significant Safety role in the rescue effort recently completed in Chile where 33 miners had been trapped since August in the San Jose Mine (Please Note, this mine is not a PASS Client).

Shown above is the Geotec Boyles Bros. S.A. drilling crew celebrating after the completion of their narrow shaft that was used for the rescue capsule. Each shift, the Geotec drilling crew conducted their PASS Safety Huddles and we are pleased to announce that no one was injured during the urgent rescue effort.

The drill rig and equipment for the rescue was provided by our Chilean client, Collahuasi Mine, whose 8,000 employees and contractors have been benefiting from the PASS System since 2008. It is one of the largest Copper Mines in the world and is situated in northern Chile. The mine is 44% owned by Xstrata PLC in joint venture with Anglo American (44%) and a Japanese consortium (12%).
